Key points of Presentation

  1. Scrum Mentality – toughness, physicality, No backward steps

 

  1. Power – position – pre-engagement – Weightlifter, Offensive Lineman, Prop (ME!)

Adds to all other parts of the game (rucking, tackling etc)

 

  1. Power position – 8-point checklist
  • feet
  • knees,
  • lower back arch,
  • core activation,
  • shoulders back,
  • scaptula’s tight,
  • chest out,
  • narrow the body,
  • head in neutral,
  • No head movement

 

  1. Power position – post engagement – (120 to 140 degree hip / knee angle)

 

5. Scrum Stability – pre-engagement

  • Binds
  • Props at 80 to 110 degrees approx,
  • Solid
  • Do Not hold back pressure
  • Do Not exert pressure
  • Feet where there is no movement post engagement

 

 

  1. Scrum Stability – post engagement
  • No Movement
  • All 8 hip / knee angles at 120 to 140 degrees

 

 

  1. Scrum Unity – Front Row contribute 60% of force
  • Front Row binding – high bind
  • Lock / flankers- high bind
  • 8 – head in
